This piece is woven at 120 knots per square inch, which works out at roughly 1,627,503 knots in total — every one tied by hand by Fatima Ait Brahim, over 5 months.
Magnify past 13× and the field stops being a picture and becomes what it actually is: rows of individual knots, each one a decision about colour made at a particular moment.
