Terms & conditions

The terms we sell on

Last reviewed 7 August 2026.

Draft — not yet reviewed by a solicitor

Drafted against how this business actually operates, but not reviewed by a solicitor. Have it checked before taking real orders — especially the commission-deposit and cancellation clauses, which carry the most risk.

1. Who you are contracting with

Regal Knots Ltd, registered in England & Wales, trading from 112 Marylebone High Street, London W1U 4SD. “We” and “us” mean that company; “you” means the customer.

2. The carpets

Every carpet is hand-knotted and one of one. Two pieces of the same design will differ, and the same piece differs from its photograph: colour depends on the light it is standing in.

Slight irregularities in shape, small variations in colour across the field (abrash), and minor differences between stated and measured dimensions are inherent to hand-weaving. They are not faults, and we do not treat them as grounds for return under clause 5 — though your thirty days applies regardless, for any reason.

Dimensions are measured at three points per side and the average is stated. Expect up to 2% variance.

3. Prices and payment

Prices are in pounds sterling and include UK VAT where applicable. The price is the one displayed when you order.

If a price is obviously wrong — a five-figure carpet listed at three figures — we are not obliged to honour it. We will tell you promptly and refund you in full.

4. Delivery

Free and insured within the UK. Timescales are in delivery & returns and are estimates, not guarantees.

Risk passes to you on delivery. Outside the UK, import duties and taxes are yours; we declare full value and will not under-declare.

5. Returns

Thirty days from delivery, any reason or none, and we collect at our cost. Refunds are issued within three working days of the carpet reaching us.

This is more generous than the 14 days required by the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and does not replace your statutory rights.

6. Commissions

This is where the terms differ most, so read it before committing.

  • Nothing is owed until you sign off the cartoon. Briefing, drawing and quoting are free, and you may walk away.
  • Payment is in thirds — on signing off the cartoon, at the halfway photograph, and on delivery.
  • The first third is non-refundable once wool is dyed. It has been dyed for your carpet alone and cannot be reused.
  • Commissions cannot be returned under clause 5. The piece was woven to your drawing, in your colours, to your dimensions. There is no second customer.
  • If it does not match what you approved, it is ours. We refund you in full, including the deposit, and collect it.
  • Timescales are estimates. Weaving takes nine to thirty months and is done by people. Illness, weather and harvest all move dates. We will keep you informed; we cannot guarantee a day.

7. Our guarantees

We repair anything bought from us for as long as you own it, and wash it at cost. This covers ordinary wear, not burns, pet damage, flooding or damage from cleaning by someone else — all of which we will quote to repair.

Our authenticity guarantee, including the independent-appraisal refund, is set out in full on the authenticity page and forms part of these terms.

8. Your statutory rights

Nothing here limits your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. If a carpet is not, you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund regardless of anything above — including for commissions.

We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

9. This website

Content, photography and the drawn artwork are ours and may not be reproduced commercially without permission.

We aim to keep the site accurate and available but do not guarantee either. Availability can change between your seeing a carpet and ordering it; stock is one of one, and occasionally something sells while you are reading about it.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.

11. Complaints

Email enquiries@regalknots.co.uk or call +44 20 7123 4567. We would always rather hear it than not.
